Job Title: Medical Secretary

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to provide administrative support to our disability home care team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing medical records, scheduling appointments, and facilitating communication between healthcare providers, clients, and their families. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of care to individuals with disabilities.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for clients, including electronic health records (EHR) and paper charts.
2. Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and arrange transportation for clients to medical appointments and other services as needed.
3. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, families, and healthcare providers, addressing inquiries and coordinating communication.
4. Prepare and process medical documentation, including intake forms, consent forms, and insurance claims.
5. Coordinate with insurance companies and government agencies to verify coverage, obtain authorizations, and process claims.
6. Assist healthcare providers with administrative tasks, such as preparing examination rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment.
7. Manage office correspondence, including incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and faxes.
8. Ensure compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information.
Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in medical office administration preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a medical secretary or administrative assistant in a healthcare setting.
3. Proficiency in medical terminology, including knowledge of diagnoses, procedures, and medications.
4. Strong computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
6. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, families, and healthcare providers.
8. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
